You can't expect your child to eat healthy when your not. I hear parents tell their kids to eat their vegetables all the time. Are you eating your vegetables. Here's a good example. Parents who constantly eat on the go and don't have a healthy breakfast are indeed sending a message to their child.

The child will think it's normal to grab a donut or drive through McDonald's because mom and dad do it every day when they drop me off. You should be sitting down to a breakfast every morning to re-enforce how important the first meal of the day is and showing them good nutrition basics. Even if you are just eating a bowl of cereal and having a glass of juice, taking that extra five to ten minutes will encourage your child to have better eating habits.

Fast food is not part of the food pyramid. Teach your child the basics and the importance of eating fresh fruits, vegetables, breads and protein. Make sure your child knows what the food pyramid consist of. It's going to be very important in the early stages of your child's life. Make sure they eat a little of everything from the basic food groups and not just what they like. Allowing your child to limit themselves to what they will or will not eat will only hurt them. Giving your child many options in life will help them pick foods that are better for them in the long run.

A healthy child shouldn't want burgers and fries for every meal even if it does contain the basic four food groups. As a parent you shouldn't be giving it to them either. Instead, teach them to have a more well-rounded life with nutrition builders such as fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and variations of these builders. Good eating habits and nutrition for your child is no accident.
