Birdman - Cash Money's Godfather

Akon's real name is Aliaune Thiam. However, he  Superior Singing Method Review claims that his full name is Aliaune Damala Akon Thiam. What makes the man so mysterious and likely is the fact that so little is known about him. Media resources across the world are still debating about how old Akon is, and he just fuels the fire. The earliest you would ever find Akon Mixtapes would be around 2003 after a three year stint in jail. Akon was promoted by another rapper named Lil' Zane.

His first album appeared in 2004. It was titled Trouble. The single that everyone remembers from it was Locked Up. Locked Up was a mixtape favorite, having been played over and over again at clubs and for personal mixtapes for friends. While his first album earned him quite a bit of respect within the industry, it wasn't until his second album dropped that Akon's place in the R&B pantheon was secured.

He was able to get so many collaborations with big names for his second album entitled, Konvicted. Snoop Dogg, Styles P, and Eminem were all featured on the record. His most successful song to date, Smack That came from this record and is still considered one of the greatest R&B songs of all time. What makes Akon so great is not necessarily the albums that he does on his own, but the success that he has had with others.

It wouldn't be surprising to hear his hook on a pop mixtape that has nothing to do with rap or R&B. We could spend an entire day talking about all the things he has done with different artists, ranging from Lady Gaga all the way to Gwen Stefani. Akon Mixtapes are an eclectic bunch, but the genius within them is apparent.
