"I hate to exercise." This is one of the most common limiting statements I hear from clients. Yes, you might hate to exercise but your body loves it! Your body was made to move and it looks at exercise as a treat. Start slow, even 5 minutes to get your heart rate and breathing rate up per day and build on this every week before long your body will be thanking you and you will feel more energy and more in love with the benefits of regular exercise.
"I was meant to be fat." Many people resign to the thought that they were born into a family with "fat genes" and no matter what they do they will never be thin. If this is your belief then you are going to resign your ability to lose the weight. Yes, genetics do play a role in how your body will be shaped but you have a lot of control and you can certainly get your body to a comfortable and healthy weight and stay there.
If your weight loss attitude is keeping you overweight then it is time to reframe your limiting thoughts so you can get the results you want. As I wrote in previous articles writing down goals is a very important thing to do. It helps to reinforce that you're serious about what you're planning to do and because of that, you'll probably be more successful. But, I know there are people who don't like to write lists and put their feelings down on paper so what should they do? Grab as many magazines, old newspapers and old pictures of yourself in better shape and put them all in a pile.
Now scan through the pile and find pictures that motivate you (it could be someone on a weighing scales celebrating), then images of health (pictures of healthy food), images of nicer clothes (that you'd like to wear in the future), images of people out exercising (but also having fun!!) Now cut all those images out and stick them to a large piece of card, there's no limit to the size of the card or how many cards you use its only important that you stick the images to the card. (Don't worry if you can't find old pictures of yourself in better shape you can pick images of someone around your size and age and just cut the body out not the head or face.)
