A Transition From the Conventional to Modern - Hearing Aids!
The faintest sound which a human can hear is one decibel and sound beyond 80 decibels is very harmful to ears. The main sources of noise are industries, music, transport, loudspeakers, and factories. The effects of these noises are auditory fatigue or permanent damage. Auditory fatigue occurs when we listen sound beyond 90 dB and leads to whistling and buzzing in ears. Permanent hearing damage occurs at 100 db.
There are other psychological effects like loss of working efficiency, annoyance etc. occurs due to noise pollution. It prevents us from hearing and enjoyment of music. It also leads to an increase in the rate of heartbeat, neurosis, insomnia, and damage to heart, kidney, and liver. Recent studies found that blood also gets thick due to continuous exposure to noise. It also results in changes in breathing amplitude. During the swimming, protection is a must requirement because it results in a severe infection known as swimmers ear.
Proper hearing protection doesn't require any heavy efforts. You have to maintain only some things in your daily routine. When listening to music, the only thing you have to do is having the sound level set to an acceptable level and listen to the music in only some reasonable time periods. Continuous use of mobile phones must be avoided as it puts pressure on the eardrums and very harmful for ears. It is the duty of industry and factory owners to use insulating materials for covering of machinery and equipment which creates noise to a large extent.
Use of ear plugs or ear muffs is very important for the industrial workers. Also, laws should be made for the noisy operations so that they must be performed outside of the residential areas in the open space. Vehicles making a lot of rattling noises must be checked properly. There must be silence zones created near schools, hospitals, and colleges. It is also recommended to avoid moving near jets and airplanes because it leads to psychiatric illness.
